Sloan Upstate gets involved in the National Association of Women In Construction by sponsoring their annual golf tournament to raise money for educational sponsorships in local colleges. Upstate also sets up a booth with company information on career opportunities for upcoming graduates of construction-related majors.

 

Upstate Region's first annual magazine, Perspective, debuted in November 2007. The purpose of the magazine is to communicate our desire to produce quality construction services and materials for the better of our industry and the positive growth of our communities.

Each year Sloan Upstate hosts a weight loss competition involving teams of five, and opens the competition to all companies within Sloan Construction Company.  Each team weighs in once a month to collect a total weight for the team, and the team with the lowest combined weight wins individual money prizes at the end of the competition.

On Saturday, April 19, 2008, Sloan Upstate hosted a free Health and Wellness Program for all active Sloan employees. A representative from ActivHealth - The Wellness People set up in the Upstate Training Room to conduct complete health screenings.

Sloan Upstate hosted its first company blood drive in March as part of Upstate’s Safety Initiative for 2008. Sponsored by Sloan’s Safety Committee, The Blood Connection’s Blood Mobile parked in Upstate’s parking lot from 7:30 a.m. through 11:30 a.m.
