Sloan Construction Upstate Innovations
The proper recycling of existing asphalt pavements has been one of Sloan’s greatest accomplishments. Quality control is the key to managing the proper use of recycled asphalt in Hot Mix manufacturing. Others attempt it, but no one controls aggregate gradation or has concern for the mix like Sloan.
Sloan Construction has capabilities in variable width pavement milling and reclamation using an adjustable width milling machine. The machine can cut 2’, 4’, and 6½’ widths. In addition to variable widths, the depth across the mill head is controlled electronically, providing precise slope control.
Sloan has invested in state of the art paving and grading electronic controls. We have been using the latest electronic lasers for over two years, and our crews are extensively trained with these controls.
Sloan utilizes a pug mill to mix the proper amount of moisture in our stone base prior to placing the stone on grade with a paving machine. The base material, besides being laid to exact grade tolerance, has very little segregation and is compacted more readily because of the optimum moisture content.
Porous Asphalt is an open-graded hot mix surface product that is paved on a clean, free draining aggregate base system. It allows for the drainage of water through the surface and base system and into a below grade stone reservoir wrapped in geotextile, filtering the water & draining it towards a storm water outfall.
Warm Mix is asphalt that is prepared and paved at temperatures 30° F to 50° F lower than traditional hot mixes of similar design. The lower temperatures provide energy savings gained during production and overall environmental benefits from the end result.
