Patewood Memorial Hospital Parking Lot Rehabilitation & Construction

Contract Amount: $1 million

Sloan Construction’s work on the rehabilitation and construction of new parking lots at Patewood Memorial Hospital included a Porous Asphalt application, where open graded surface asphalt was placed over an underlying stone recharge bed. The water drains through the porous asphalt into the stone bed, then, slowly infiltrates into the soil.

This process is highly effective when land use is minimal, and allows for land development practices which are more sustainable and compatible with natural processes. A Porous Asphalt application allows more conservation of water, reduces runoff, and promotes infiltration which filters stormwater, replenishes aquifers, and protects streams.
