About the Project
The GSP Drive Rehabilitation Project is currently underway at the Greenville Spartanburg International Airport and is scheduled to be complete in mid September of this year. The 95% Federally funded project will cost approximately 1.5 million dollars and will restore one of the main arteries to the airport to like new status with several environmentally conscious construction strategies.Curb and gutter is being replaced in selected locations including the terminal building and GSP Drive will be widened in selected locations to improve traffic flow. At the terminal building attention has been given to ADA requirements on the two primary crosswalks and grade changes at the intersection of GSP drive and the terminal exit will improve drainage and safety.
The project extends from near Hwy 14 past the airport terminal to Stevens Aviation. Extensive use of recycled asphalt materials and the use of new green asphalt paving technologies will reduce energy consumption and green house gas emissions by 18% or more. The use of a new stress absorbing membrane called FiberMat between the old asphalt and the new will retard the reflection of old cracks through the new pavement and significantly extend the new pavement's life. The project was designed by The LPA Group and is being overseen by Advanced Engineering Design, Inc.
Sloan Construction is proud to have been chosen by GSP Airport to be their partner in this Green Paving project for the community.
